ACMA the Italian Centre of Architecture was founded in Milan on 25th October 1994. ACMA has operated continuously for twenty years within a social and cultural architectural context, processing and disseminating innovative topics related to the changing needs of contemporary society.
ACMA was the first private cultural enterprise to organize and communicate, in an organized manner, significant events aimed at disseminating quality aspects on architecture and urban planning. Born with the internet, the Italian Centre of Architecture, has always employed the latest digital technology to facilitate networking with the best international intellectual resources, with the goal of building a critical and independent discussion encouraging a free debate on the new frontiers of architectural design. In the last two decades ACMA has helped to raise the interest of technicians and the awareness of the institutions, not just of our country, about landscape and environmental sustainability. In the 90s it introduced the experimental teaching techniques of workshops and design seminars, educational trips and cultural itineraries, all open to teachers and students coming from all over the world. In Italy, it has organized the Master in Landscape Architecture with the Polytechnic University of Barcelona (UPC Foundation), one of the most important and influential European training programmes in this sector. ACMA has influenced the culture of Italian planning. It has been, in recent years, a veritable centre of study and research, an engine of ideas and knowledge, a benchmark for hundreds of students and teachers, universities, professional bodies and public authorities, newspapers and magazines, websites, associations and clubs. With the acquired knowledge and a solid network of relationships between dozens of partners and consultants, on 25th October 2014, ACMA will celebrate its first twenty years and will officially present “paesaggio.it“, the web publishing platform created to share contents on the landscape: an additional confident step forward into the future. We look forward to receiving feedback and contributions, and enjoying the participation at the event of all those who, in various ways, have shared the aims of ACMA’s initiatives over the years: our gratitude goes to all those who provided their support.
