New uses for ancient territory: Tourismo. Design studio
Milan, March-May 2013
Tourism represents the second global industry after the extraction and treatment of oil. A growing phenomenon if we consider that about half the population of the world moves for this reason out of their territory and a sixth of these out of their country of origin; if on the one hand this has generated a new, specific economy which is analysed, programmed and managed by large tourist operators, on the other it has become a synonym of free fruition of territories, of contact through the different cultures of the world. It is a real polyhedric migratory phenomenon of which the flux finds the art cities and natural destinations unprepared, triggering issues that vary from the anthropological, the environmental, urban and infrastructural. Entire territories are reinterpreted, available to new functions that must take into account the value and respect of the local culture and landscape.
