Monika Gora, Malmö (Varsavia, 1959). She has worked as a landscape architect and artist with her own office, GORA art&landscape, since 1989. She holds a master’s degree in landscape architecture from the Swedish University of Agriculture. Before starting her own office Monika Gora made prolonged travels which included working and studying in Australia, China, Indonesia, the Netherlands, New Zealand and the USA. She was a member of the Swedish National Council for Architecture, Form and Design between 2004 and 2009. In her practice she has systematically chosen her own path – experimental and challenging – combining this with an ability to find practicable solutions. Monika often works with the seamless combination of landscape architecture, public art and building. In addition to permanent works, temporary installations within existing environments occupy a central position in Monika Gora’s oeuvre. Some of her pieces have contained provocative elements but they have always actively contributed to the production of new meaning, spaces and memories. The studio offers extensive knowledge in landscape architecture and art and has a wide range of collaborators within different fields of expertise. The studio have received both national and international acknowledgement and has also been pointed out as one of the worlds 50 best landscape architecture studios.
