João Nunes, Lisbon (Lisbon, 1960). With a degree in Landscape Architecture from the High Institute of Agronomy of the Technical University of Lisbon, he achieved his Masters in Landscape Architecture at the Higher Technical School of Architecture of Barcelona, Polytechnic University of Catalonia. He is a lecturer at the Institute where he completed his degree, and has extended his teaching activity with seminars in various schools, amongst which Harvard, the University of Girona, the Higher Technical School of Architecture of Barcelona, the University Institute of Architecture Venice and the Polytechnic of Milan. PROAP – Estudos e Projectos de Arquitectura Paisagista Lda reunites a vast group of specialists in landscape architecture, architecture, design and the plastic arts, who work for a team represented by João Nunes and Carlos Ribas. The work and research of the study deal with an intervention principle in landscape which starts from the interpretation and recognition of its rules and functioning mechanisms. In 2001-2002 PROAP held an itinerating exhibition in Italy, presented in Milan, Modena, Turin, Benevento, Salerno, Pescara, Chieti and Rome, selected to represent Portugal at the 8th Venice Architecture Biennial, which collects some of the most significant projects realised.
