Isabel Aguirre, La Coruña (Vilagarcía, 1937). She is an architect, director of the Escuela Gallega Paisaje (EGP) and has been coordinator of the Master Course in Landscape Architecture at the University of Santiago de Compostela e de La Coruña since 2008. She is a member of the “Grupo Investigación del Patrimonio Cultural de la Politécnica de Madrid”, and she has taught Introducción a la Arquitectura at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Estetica y de Paisaje of the University of La Coruña. Isabel Aguirre has also directed the Paisaje Taller of the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura of the University of Navarra. She was in charge of the Desarrollo Sostenible course (Sustainable Development) for five years at the University Menéndez Pelayo in Galicia. Isabel Aguirre has delivered several guest lectures in universities, congresses and seminars. She received the National Prize of Architecture of la Dehesa in 1997 for the Bonaval Park, organized by the Ministry of Transport, the Higher Council of Architects in Spain, the University Menéndez Pelayo and the University of Alcalá Henares. Some of her notable works include the project for the viewpoint over the city of Cañon de Sil and the park in Piazza di Spagna in Ferrol. Her work, including landscape and re-qualification projects in Spain, Portugal, France and Belgium, has been exhibited at the Department of Landscape Design of Harvard University. Isabel’s writings and works are published in numerous publications and in national and international journals.
